The School of Environmental Sciences will be offering a new program on Indigenous Environmental Science and Practice, which emphasizes Indigenous knowledge systems alongside cutting-edge training in western environmental science.
GIER Affiliate Jesse Popp, OAC Chair in Indigenous Environmental Science, will play a key role in the development and delivery of this new program, which will have six unique courses related to land-based teaching, right relations, and Indigenous culture, among other topics. Students will be able to choose a co-op option for this program to gain relevant work experience with a variety employers, including First Nation communities, consulting firms, and governmental organization.
