    The Andean Initiative

    We are happy to announce that the Andean Initiative kicks off this week! The Andean Initiative aims to support the well-being of vulnerable rural communities in the Andes of Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. You can follow them on Facebook to be part of their International Launch (July 22, 10:00 am EDT) and International Dialogue (July 23, 10:00 am EDT) events.

    In 2015, the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which represent global objectives to improve both nature and people’s lives by the year 2030. According to Robin Naidoo and Brendan Fisher, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, two-thirds of those goals are no longer achievable.

    The Conservation Through Reconciliation Partnership (CRP) is a seven-year program of work that supports Indigenous-led conservation in Canada. Hosted by the IISAAK OLAM Foundation, the Indigenous Leadership Initiative, and the University of Guelph, the CRP weaves together Indigenous thought leaders, organizations, youth and Elders; emerging and established scholars; prominent conservation agencies and organizations; Indigenous Peoples and Nations; and knowledge mobilization specialists.
