GIER has partnered with The EchoNetwork to produce a series of (virtual) encounters between environmental researchers in India and Canada. The purpose of these encounters is to learn how research is conducted in both countries and to exchange enriching experiences between academia and society at large.

Café Philo: Creation / Destruction

This conversation will also feature Kathryn Lawson (PhD candidate in philosophy, Queen’s University) and Joel Ong (media artist and professor at York University). Framework for productive engagement of knowledge systems

GIER Affiliate Jeji Varghese coauthored a review paper that proposes a framework to facilitate cross-cultural engagement between communities that have a different understanding of what "knowledge" means. In particular, the paper focuses on what "knowledge system" means for Western and Indigenous cultures and how the concept applied in the ecology and natural resource management literature.
