GIER Affiliate Jackie Goordial joined science communicator Kellie Gerardi and NASA geobiologist Darlene Limand to discuss the search for life beyond Earth and the solar system.
Jackie is an environmental microbiologist with the School of Environmental Sciences and has conducted extensive research in extreme environments such as the sea floor, Antarctica’s coldest and driest valleys, and sub-zero permafrost in the Canadian Arctic. Jackie’s work extends to the field of astrobiology, which she explains is quite interdisciplinary, as it draws expertise from astronomy, chemistry, biology, and anthropology, among other disciplines.
Does life exist beyond Earth? And how do we look for it? Tune in to learn more!
