The Guelph Institute for Environmental Research is pleased to invite you to the webinar “COVID-19, the Environment, and You” on Thursday, June 25th, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm EDT.
We have all experienced abrupt and unprecedented changes in the last few months, affecting how we work and how we live. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to dramatically change our behaviour, and these changes have had important ripple effects on our environment. For example, we have heard of improvements in air quality and wildlife recovery across the globe. But what do these changes mean for the environment at large and for our long-term sustainable development goals? The short answer is, it’s complicated.
While there are some ‘silver linings’ for the environment, these may not stand the test of time. Nevertheless, the pandemic comes with new lessons to be learned about our relationship with the environment. And if we pay close attention, they might help us imagine and therefore achieve a more sustainable future. Join this free webinar presented by Guelph Institute for Environmental Research (GIER) as we discuss and analyze the environmental dimensions of the COVID-19 pandemic with researchers across the university.
Our panelists will be Dr. Madhur Anand, Director, Guelph Institute for Environmental Research; Dr. John Fryxell, Executive Director, Biodiversity Institute of Ontario; and, Dr. Robin Roth, Co-Lead, Conservation Through Reconciliation Partnership.
We are honoured to welcome Mike Schreiner, Leader of the Green Party of Ontario, MPP for Guelph as moderator for this event!
