UNENE R&D Workshop 2025 – Tremaine student wins top poster prize

The Tremaine group attended the annual University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE) R&D Workshop in Mississauga from Dec 8-10, 2025. The workshop is one of our major highlights of the year, bringing together students, researchers, and industry stakeholders from across Canada to collaborate, share knowledge, and plan future developments.

2025 Goldschmidt Conference Prague recap

Our senior research scientist Dr. Swaroop Sasidharanpillai travelled to Prague, Czech Republic, to present at the 2025 Goldschmidt Conference. As described on their website, "Goldschmidt is the foremost annual, international conference on geochemistry and related subjects, organized by the European Association of Geochemistry and the Geochemical Society.

Happy Halloween!

Trick or treat! The Tremaine group carved a pumpkin for the Chemistry Department's annual Haloween party. This year our design was in support of the Blue Jays as they played in the World Series. They survived into November (first time in franchise history) but sadly it wasn't enough to win it all.

Visit to Bruce Power and the Nuclear Innovation Institute

Thanks to our ongoing research collaboration with Bruce Power (and especially our host Guoping Ma), the Tremaine Group visited Bruce Power on Sept 25 2025.

Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CSC) 2025

Group members Dr. Swaroop S. (senior researcher), Dr. Alexander Kalintsev (PDF), Sam Binkley (PhD student) and Brendan Carson (MSc student) attended this year's CSC in Ottawa. It was a time for sharing our research, networking for new opportunities, and even re-uniting with past Tremaine group members! There was even a talk on the Raman spectroscopy of maple syrup... This post looks at the conference itself and our group members' experiences.

Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) Conference 2025

A strong contingent represented Tremaine Research Group at the 44th annual CNS Conference in Toronto from Jun 8-11. Kelvin Olivares, Haven Camillo, Jason Yap, Sam Binkley, and Brendan Carson all attended.

Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) Conference 2025

Tremaine group MSc. candidates Haven and Kelvin recently travelled to Ottawa to attend the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) Conference as part of their program (April 15-17 2025). During the conference, they had the opportunity to connect with industry representatives from major nuclear companies and organizations, gaining valuable insights into the current and future direction of the industry. Throughout the conference, we attended talks focused on innovations in nuclear energy and engaged with fellow students working on exciting research projects in the nuclear field. The experience was informative and inspiring as it highlighted the diverse opportunities available within the nuclear industry.

2025 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) Joint Meeting

A joint meeting of the Technical Advisory Committees for two research programs funded by the University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE) and other industrial partners was held on Campus at the University of Guelph on May 6-7, 2024.
